I need a good laptop that is portable and light weight, about 12" screen, wifi, for...?

Portability/durability, battery life and connectivity is key. Not gaming on it. Under $1K would be nice.

The tx2000z is a nice small model, and only about 4 1/4 lbs in weight. It not only has WiFi, but it's the next-gen WiFi - as well as Bluetooth and a webcam! They start at about $999. (Hint: use the "Savings Code" of "Embedded" to get $300 off!!! At $699, this is a steal!)
I think the coolest thing about the TX series is that the screen flips around so it's ALSO a tablet PC!!!

They have several models that range in weight from 2 1/2 lbs to 4 1/2 lbs, and some models even come with Cellular Internet capability as well as WiFi - you will never have to find a WiFi hotspot again.
I've found that the HP's are less fragile than Dell, and a better value than Lenovo. I've had HP laptops for the better part of the last 8 years (an HP, a Dell, and now another HP), and am very satisfied with the HPs.

You can also get HP consumer laptops from retailers like Best Buy and Staples. They sometimes have deals that beat HP-direct prices. You can get the Business models from HP resellers - there are literally thousands of resellers, so check your yellow pages or Search the net for one near you.
