Counterfeit Money Credit
If I am the victim of fraud, will the IRS at least allow me to write off the money I have lost?
Thieves stole my PIN and emptied my bank account (they manufactured a counterfeit ATM card and armed with my PIN they proceeded to empty my account).
This is NOT your typical, run-of-the-mill case involving credit card fraud where the credit card company gives you a conditional reimbursement while they investigate unauthorized charges or withdrawals. The bank is not the victim here - I am. That's because I probably will not get my money back.
you need to alert the 3 credit bureaus in writting with all your info go to their website it tells you what to do you can request an extended fraud alert but you need to file a police report and send copies of everything to the irs, but you need to wait for the credit bureaus to respond first to your request and you need a copy of the police report and an affidavit of fact on your identity basically just a certified letter from a notary thst shows all your identity and your signature, like i said go to the credit bureaus website it'll tell you what to do and so will the irs website or speak to someone from irs. good luck!
